The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis mentor youth through its network of members. The organization is positively impacting the lives of tomorrow’s leaders through its signature programs such as the 100's Arms Around Us Mentoring Program, the 100 Youth Ambassadors Leadership Academy, and the Collegiate 100. The Organization also delivers unique, innovation mentoring initiatives that are locally relevant and that change the lives of thousands of youth annually.
E D U C AT I O N
The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis has been educating and empowering youth for nearly 30 years. The Organization works with local school systems, corporate and community sponsors to deliver educational support services and unique learning opportunities that assist youth in achieving their educational goals. The Organization’s education initiatives inspire confidence, create cultural awareness and foster academic leadership.

The Health and Wellness goals of the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis are to raise awareness, provide access to health care and health information that will ultimately promote behavior change resulting in a healthier lifestyle. Through civic and corporate partnerships, the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis deliver health education programs and free health screening in hundreds of communities annually.

The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis consider economic empowerment as a necessary step toward creating a just society. The Organization defines economic empowerment as the ability to be self-determined in creating dreams, pursuing them and ultimately perpetuating them by establishing the mechanisms to sustain generational wealth. The program initiatives promote economic self –sufficiency through financial literacy, family wealth building and entrepreneurship.

STEM Program
The STEM Leadership Academy was established in January 2015 at Hodgen Elementary School as a collaborative effort between the 100 Black Men and St. Louis Public Schools under the leadership of Benjamin Nesbitt, Keith Morrell, and Vikki DeClue. Students, comprised of 7 teams, have begun building and initially programming their own robots.

100 Arms Around Us
The 100’s Arms Around Us (AAU) Mentoring Program is a comprehensive youth development program with an emphasis on building character and life skills, specifically in the areas of goal setting, peer pressure, conflict resolution, personal and financial awareness, and community service. The program is administered at Cardinal Ritter College Preparatory School and the Juvenile Detention Center.

Youth Conference
“What is Cool!” Youth Conferences are held two to three times a year to equip youth with information and resources to help close the gap of opportune through education, health & wellness, economic empowerment, and mentoring. We focus on various topics such as goal setting, dealing with peer pressure, and the importance of education for future success.

School Tour
The School Tour is a partnership with community organizations and stakeholders (including, but not limited to, urban radio station, DJ’s, recording artists, etc) to implement an End of The Year School Tour called the “S.W.A.G. Tour” (which stands for Service, Well-Being, Academic Achievement and Goal Setting). The tour focuses on areas of Mentoring, Education, Economic Development and Violence Prevention. The tour targets 8 High Schools and impacts over 2,000 students.

An auxiliary organization that extends the 100’s mission to local high school students that are in academic good standing and have a passion to lead and deliver community service. The goal is to groom leaders now and for the future while equipping these young leaders with information to make better decisions that will affect their life long term. Students are coached, mentored, groomed and directed along paths of self-exploration, improvement and development that result in discoveries of latent creativity and a desire to excel.

The CHD also provides education and screenings in the areas of OBESITY, HYPERTENSION, DIABETES, BREAST CANCER, HEART DISEASE, MENTAL HEALTH, HIV/AIDS and STD’s to ensure we cover a range of key areas affecting all ages within our families. The Prostate Cancer & Survivors Run/Walk is one of the key activities for this family friendly day of self-awareness.

The Barber Shop Program is a health initiative targeting high-risk populations providing them with free Blood Pressure Screenings, Prostate Cancer Awareness and HIV/AIDS Educations. The Program is a collaborative effort between The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis and St. Louis University - College for Public Health and Social Justice, University of Missouri - St. Louis College of Nursing, along with the St. Louis City Department of Health. The Barber Shop Tour visits more than 20 barber shops on Saturdays over a 2 month period. The goal is to inform 200-300 participants of how important it is to monitor their blood pressure, which can prevent heart attacks and strokes, along with the need for routine visits with their physician.
